Mudvayne
Mudvayne
2/5
Nu Metal is the light beer of the heavy music, not as polarizing to mainstream taste buds as real metal, and lacks the real substance and body that makes it so delectable. Since their impressive debut album, L.D.50, Mudvayne have continued to brew increasingly bland radio-friendly metal. The bitter kick of harder metal ingredients and the sophistication of expanded guitar work make this release a stiffer listen. However, portions of this album are still watered down, and hold true to the opening metaphor of this review. The acoustic closer drinks like that flat bit of beer still left at the bottom of the bottle, and leaves the listener with nothing memorable, but hey, at least it’s not a Coor’s Light.
