During the much of the 1980’s, California’s Bay Area was the undeniable thrash metal capital of the world. Unearthing this carcass of this long dead scene, Oakland’s Saviours attempt to resurrect this once mighty beast with Accelerated Living. Not to say this record is completely derivative however, as Saviours put their own stamp on 80’s thrash metal, mixing in elements of stoner metal, punk and groovy Sabbath-esque riffage. The only qualm with this album is that while it is wall-to-wall balls-out-metal, there aren’t any particularly memorable moments or climaxes that really grab the listener and you’ll hum back to yourself later. Accelerated Living sure was fun to party with, but I’m not necessarily going to remember her name the morning after.
