Back in the day, when punk was becoming new wave, one of the hottest bands around was Hamilton’s own Teenage Head. Down in New York the band that everyone wanted to be like (including Teenage Head) was the Ramones. Now, almost 30 years later, we have Teenage Head with Ramone’s drummer Marky Ramone to resurrect that great late 70s, early 80s speed rock sound. Teenage Head started right down the street at Westdale High School in the early 70s and released their first single in 1978. Their first album, Teenage Head contained the songs “Top Down” and “Picture My Face” – both of which are up-dated here. In 1980 the release of the LP Frantic City was their breakthrough. They became big stars and caused a riot at Ontario Place that year when thousands of fans were turned away. That LP contained “Let’s Shake” the bands biggest hit which still really rocks. The songs are really fast and really good. The CD is well worth getting, even if it’s only to listen to the songs that your parents did the pogo to.
