On Sunday Nov. 16, the Student Representative Assembly gathered in Gilmour Hall 111 for the second of three meetings in November. The meeting can be watched on demand via the video player.

During the meeting, MSU president Teddy Saull gave his presidential report, to which he revealed a few upgrades for the upcoming fall examination period. He noted that an official announcement will come as part of a "huge promo blast" at the end of November, but said upgrades are as listed below.

1. Extended hours for Thode

Good news for overnight crammers - Thode Library will remain open 24 hours per day three or four days prior to, and all throughout the examination period. This gives students a venue for late-night studying beyond rummaging through MUSC for precious table space near outlets.

"Thode used to be open for 24 hours before the first exam, but what if you had an exam on the first day?" MSU president Teddy Saull said. "Thode bumped that to 3-4 days before exams start."

2. The Reactor open longer

In tandem with extended hours for Thode Library, the Reactor cafe will also be open for an extended period of time during exams, including on weekends.

Saull also mentioned that he and the board of directors tried to push for Mini Mac to be open 24 hours during exam period, but cited bureaucratic pushback as to why the motion failed.

"If the next year's board of directors pushes for this point, it will be possible," Saull added, regarding possible upgrades six months from now.

3. Pulse open through (most of) exams

The Pulse will now be open throughout exams. Regular operating hours will be in effect, giving students a chance to exercise both body and mind, while providing an outlet to relieve stress.

"The gym used to cut their hours last year for exams. We got them to keep their hours for almost all of the exam period," Saull said.

Saull also added that Pulse hours will be cut the last three or four days of examinations. This will be done to reflect the declining of student population as examinations come to a close.
