Hamilton city council postpones LRT reaffirmation vote
The future of public transit in the city of Hamilton is TBD. Again.
For the second time, Hamilton City Council postponed a vote to reaffirm the acceptance of $1 billion dollars from the Ontario government to build Light Rail Transit.
Councillors all agreed to defer the famous motion accepting $1B for LRT until October. More detailed designs coming in Sept #HamOnt

Despite voting in support of LRT multiple times, the city says they are going to settle this in October.
In May 2015, the Ontario Liberal government announced the funding. On May 26, 2016, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said "I honestly thought the conversation was done" when asked about the renewed debate.
If council votes yes to LRT, construction is expected to start in 2019 and be operational in 2024.
