McMaster's Black Student-Athlete Council hosts climate surveys and focus groups

In 2020, a report titled “A Systemic Review of the Black Student-Athlete Experience and the McMaster Athletics Climate” was submitted to the Dean of Students at McMaster University. The report highlighted issues that Black student athletes, coaches and staff had experienced within the McMaster’s Athletics and Recreation department and a lack of care for these issues by overhead leaders.

McMaster Indigenous Health Movement art exhibit on display at Hamilton Artists Inc.

From Jan. 26 to Mar. 9, Hamilton Artists Inc. will be hosting the Art is Medicine exhibit, curated by the McMaster University Indigenous Health Movement. The exhibit features work by Indigenous youth artists Anang Binesi, Courtnee Osawabine, Justice Ryan, Nikaronhya'a Dawn Martin and Shayde Sandy.

McMaster track hits form early in the season

The Marauders track team kicked off their season on Jan. 12 and 13 in Windsor, Ont. with the Can Am Classic. After a winter break’s rest, the team was able to pick up some great results in the opening weekend.

McMaster's Punjabi Association wins first place at the OPA formal

The Ontario Punjabi Association annual formal occurred this year on Jan. 19 at the Pearson Convention Centre. At the formal, the McMaster Punjani Association's competitive co-ed bhangra dance team competed against York University, University of Toronto, University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, Western University, Brock University and the Toronto Metropolitan University. MPA won first place and received a cash prize of $1500.

McMaster men's volleyball continues great form this winter

After the departure of notable players, including Sam Cooper and Mateusz Wlodarski as well as head coach Dave Preston, the McMaster University men's volleyball team knew they would need to rebuild. Led by new head coach Brad Douwes, the Marauders looked towards newer players to fill in these gaps for the season.

McMaster basketball reopens the season at the Burridge

Kicking off their season on Nov. 1., both the McMaster University men and women’s basketball teams began their Ontario University Athletics seasons on the right foot against Laurier University. The women’s basketball team was able to pick up a win against the Golden Hawks with a score of 80-75 while the men’s team finished 75-72.
